We’re Hiring! Religious Exploration Coordinator

The Universalist Unitarian Community of Halifax is looking for a Religious Exploration Coordinator (REC) for children.

The UUCH’s mission is to provide a community that nurtures personal and spiritual growth, practices inclusiveness, celebrates diversity, and affirms individual and collective commitment to community service and social justice. This is a part time, ten month contract position. The REC is responsible for planning and implementing the Religious Exploration program for elementary aged children which includes a Sunday morning class with some before and after supervision between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The REC will work with the RE committee and the minister to find appropriate curriculum, plan activities each week and interact with parents.   Sunday morning responsibilities include selecting and reading a “Story for All Ages” during the first part of the service.

Hours of Work: This is a contract position allowing for flexibility in scheduling the remaining  5 hours for preparation time,  outreach through the use of social media, meetings with the minister and the RE committee, as well as a once per month youth (jr/sr high school) activity organized by the minister.   The hours of work are expected to be an average of 7 hours per week. This is a term position from September 1st, 2026 to June 30th , 2027.   The contract may be renewed depending on funding.  The UUCH pays the living wage, which in 2026 will be $29.40 per hour.
