Our Music Director

Hi, I’m Vanessa Lindsay-Botten and I’m the Music Director here at UUCH. My pronouns are she/her. I enthusiastically welcome you to celebrate and express your whole self through music and the power of your unique voice. I served as Music Director from 2005 – 2007 and I’m grateful and beyond excited to be returning to this role for the contractual period of September – December 2026.

I’m a pianist, singer, harpist, educator, choral conductor, and my passion spans a wide array of musical styles. I draw from a well of diverse training from beloved teachers, mentors, and guides. I graduated from the Community Choir Leadership Training in Victoria, BC, in 2011. My calling is to provide a safe enough place for all people to sing, blending voices together in harmony, and building community greater than the sum of its parts. 

UUCH has a Pick-up Choir that gathers a few times a month for open-hearted singing. All voices are welcome, no experience needed. You’ll find more details in our monthly Newsletter. I hope to sing with you soon! 

UUCH also has a fabulous pianist, Tristan Kelloway; an awesome eclectic band, the Afterchoir; and talented guest musicians from within our congregation and from the wider community. You’re welcome to be part of the musical tradition here in any way that calls you!

I balance community singing with lots of quiet time – along with my husband John, my two amazing adult kids, our two cats Charlie and Lola; and the generosity of friends and plants in my garden.
